Artwork Description

Albert Namatjiras artworks were once stored at my grandfather Bert Beckenhams Hawthorn storage business before Exhibitions in Melbourne as my GF was also good friends with Rex Batterby. I have memories of staying at my uncle Albys home in strathbogie with Namatjira paintings on the walls, now Leunig's home.

Artist Bio

I am an artist currently rediscovering my voice and my place in the art world. After many years dedicated to the joys and responsibilities of family life, I have returned to my studio with a renewed sense of purpose and a fresh perspective on the creative process.

My work is defined by a tactile, experimental approach. I don’t simply apply paint; I play and sculpt with it. By combining palette knife techniques with traditional brushwork and rag application, I create textures that bring a sense of physical depth to the canvas. My studio is my sanctuary, and the atmosphere is vital to my output. I always work to music that resonates with my specific subject, allowing the sound to guide my movements and influence the energy of the piece.

Whether I am capturing the likeness of a commissioned portrait or the vastness of a landscape, I aim to go beyond mere representation. I rely heavily on my intuition to help tell the story behind the image, infusing each work with a personal connection and a unique narrative. For me, art is a balance of technical skill and intuitive play, and I am thrilled to be sharing my vision with the world once again.
