Artwork Description

“The Hunter’s Gaze Blue” is part of a conceptual series of circular eye-themed works inspired by the artist’s concern for environmental degradation caused by unchecked industrial growth. Informed by years of curating Earth Day and World Environment Day exhibitions, the artist uses the eye as a universal symbol — representing nature, life, and the cosmos — to evoke reflection, awareness, and spiritual presence.

This 50 cm round artwork is created on wood using high-quality acrylics and finished with a crystal-clear resin layer. The design mimics the intense gaze of a hunting predator, with vivid blues, delicate line work, and rich textures enhanced by the glass-like surface. A touch of fine blue glitter was added to the iris, creating a subtle, starlike shimmer under night lighting.

Bold yet meditative, this piece blends conceptual depth with striking aesthetics, making it ideal for collectors or anyone seeking to elevate their space with meaning and presence.

Artist Bio

Becky Cui | Artist · Art Educator · Cultural Curator

Born in China, raised in New Zealand, and now based in Australia, my formative years were shaped by the interplay of Eastern and Western cultures. My childhood was steeped in the ink-and-brush traditions of Chinese calligraphy and painting. In my teens, I explored oil painting and modern Western art amidst New Zealand’s breathtaking landscapes. This unique cross-cultural journey has given me a profound appreciation for art as a universal language.

As an emerging visual artist, my acrylic series Eyes of the World successfully toured Christchurch, New Zealand, and Melbourne in 2023–2024, with works collected by art enthusiasts worldwide.
As a seasoned art educator, I have nurtured students across Australia, New Zealand, and China for over a decade, building a trans-Pacific network of artistic learning.
As a cultural event director, I have curated Melbourne’s "Earth Day International Youth Art Exhibition" for four consecutive years, garnering widespread community support, and have produced dozens of large-scale celebrations, including the Melbourne Chinatown Lunar New Year Festival, the Federation Square Traditional Chinese Festival, and the Wyndham Multicultural Lunar Festival, among others.

My work embodies a dialogue between Eastern and Western aesthetics, creating a distinct cross-cultural visual language. Through art education and practice, I strive to bridge creative conversations across diverse cultural landscapes.
