Artwork Description

This is a tree in the suburb South Bunbury, WA. It is a part of a series called Emergence Trees that I painted in recognition and appreciation of the trees around us.
This painting has a bright, colourful background with various hues of blue painted stripes and patterns. The background has been covered with white acrylic paint to bring out the negative shapes around the tree.
As I draw the outlines of the tree with a small paint applicator, I delve into the shapes around branches, taking in all the twist and turns. It feels almost like creating a landscape in all the limbs of the tree. The negative shapes are then filled in with layers of white paint, allowing the tree to emerge from the background.

I have initialled the painting at the bottom, next to the tree trunk.

Artist Bio

Driven by curiosity, I paint to see if I can capture the essence of what I observe in the world around me. My work is a reflection of an ongoing journey of learning and growth, as I constantly seek to hone my skills and deepen my understanding of my craft. I paint a diverse range of subjects and use various mediums, guided by the energy and inspiration I feel at any given moment. Each piece is an exploration of the possibilities within my artistic practice, an attempt to convey the beauty and complexity of my subjects in new and compelling ways.
