Rockingham Foreshore

Rockingham Foreshore in Perth Western Australia is very special to my family. We moved to the area ten years ago after living in Kalgoorlie for 6 years - at least a 4 hour drive from any beach. We would spend almost every Saturday here, playing on the beach at sunset and then eating fish and chips at a local store. As the kids grew older, we purchased 6 kayaks and would spend a few hours paddling on the beach with friends. I wanted to include the jetty, where I watched my son catch his first fish, the seagulls, who are always searching for stray chips, and the long bridge to garden island.

There is so much beauty in nature. As a young child I remember sketching trees and marking out each individual leaf. My journey into the world of painting began as a young mother as I searched for a past time that I could focus on for a bit of needed release. It turned into so much more than that, and my family have come along with the journey. The process of watching a blank canvas grow one brush stroke at a time is mesmerizing. It has taught me to view the world in a new lens, one filled with color. I hope you enjoy viewing my work.
