I am a self taught artist from the Albury Wodonga region.I took up painting in 2015 after a major health scare and I found myself in a very dark place. My mental health suffered as a consequence. Painting was the only thing that allowed me to escape. When they talk about art therapy I totally understand what they mean. I find art very therapeutic and I can get lost in a piece of work for many hours at a time.
Most of my pieces are Watercolour, however I do enjoy creating textured Acrylic pieces on stretched canvas'. I would describe my work as colourful, expressive, emotional and also shows a sense of freedom.
Some of my work is influenced by my South African background.
Art has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone in a huge way. I now do one on one art lessons which I would say is not in the conventional way. It's more a space of freedom for anyone who is willing or has a desire to explore their own individual gifts. It's therapy for them as well as for me and nothing brings me more joy than to see my students leave with a big smile on their face!
