This picture is part of my World War 2 aircraft series. Theses drawings are about honouring the pleasure of making aircraft models as a child and how this simple activity is part of who I am now, not just then) . The narrative that starts with the plane drawing then strays way of course, depicting the power of creativity and joy over reactionary ideas and vested interests. It was made in 2014 and makes observations on the Australian politics of the time, ( especially the lack of grace of the Abbott government) the music I was listening to, the books I read then and the consequent reflections on my own life. Some of it is tough stuff - some of it is pretty funny.
This is the original drawing. Prints are available.
