Original painting. This is a part of an ongoing series of abstract paintings, taking as their starting point the 'Black Classics' Penguin paperback books.
The upper section of the painting was built up in many layers of overlapping circles and lines, finally reigned in by a top coat of green. The lower section is black and white, with the title 'The Roving Party', a critically acclaimed Australian novel. The book is set in the wilderness of colonial Tasmania, and the colours I chose for the painting are evocative of the Australian bush, tying in with this.
A large, bold, and impressive abstract painting.
