My Monopoly series takes the classic imagery of the vintage board game and gives it a twist, through thick layers of paint, expressive brushwork, splatter and drips. The text and images are often altered to give new meaning, relating to classic movies, music, or current affairs. I enjoy the balance between pop design and chaotic paint, and between the original imagery and a new surrealism or sense of humour.
This particular has text inspired by the Sheriff of Polk County, Florida, calling on residents to just chill out with a moonpie and a 7 Up and quit murdering people.
This painting is ready to hang without needing to be framed - the sides are painted black, and it has a gloss varnish.
For lovers of pop art, pop music and classic design.
