A Welcome Change of Pace

A woman sits in the afternoon sunlight, quietly threading a needle. A sense of quiet peace envelops her.

After an intense few months working on a large and emotionally charged surreal painting, the photograph that inspired this painting jumped out at me to be painted. I painted it for the sheer enjoyment of painting and the peace the scene inspired in me, and I still find it to be a source of meditative peace when looking at the painting.

Welcome! I am a Sydney based symbolist artist specialising in oil and watercolour painting. My work is often autobiographical, and my process is informed by my background education in art therapy and influenced by the Symbolist art movement of the late 1800's (I find that this style fits perfectly with the visual language I naturally gravitate towards). I am fascinated by psychology (especially recent breakthroughs in the field of trauma and holistic mental health), archetypes, religion and spirituality.
