As well as being a widely exhibited painter for the past 30 years, Bev is also the author/illustrator of 20 leading self-help books published by HarperCollins.
Bev has exhibited her artwork in numerous solo, group and gallery exhibitions. Galleries which have carried her work include SmartArtz Gallery, Jinks Creek Winery and Gallery, Without Pier Gallery, Tasmania Shop Gallery and Marian Rennie Gallery. Her work is currently exhibited at the new Yea Art Gallery.
Bev has also been director of Ha Ha Comic Art Gallery (Gasworks Park, Albert Park), Salmay Gallery (Newport) , Piece Gallery (Yarraville) and Car Park Art Gallery, (Alexandra Victoria).
She has also been a tutor at The Council of Adult Education (CAE), teaching Cartooning.
In the 30 years that Bev has been painting, she has sold close to 400 pieces - often to people who have never before bought art but have connected with her work on an emotional level.
Bev describes her artworks as her 'Dreaming on canvas'. her work also explores a journey through healing, inspired by her own past experience of anxiety and depression which has led to her books and work as a counsellor.Rrepeating themes are of hope and rising above the limitations of life - especially through self-nurture.
Since moving to rural Victoria in 2018, Bev's work now often includes the beauty of her surrounds. She is also fond of incorporating tactile surfaces into her work, such as fabrics, lace and printed paper. While mostly figurative, her work also includes abstract art.
Influences include Chagall, Mirka Mora, Arthur Boyd, Charles Blackman and, given her experience as a cartoonist, there is also a touch of Reg Mombassa!
