Mr Boss

Boss Mustang celebrates the raw energy and sculptural beauty of one of America’s most iconic classic cars. Set against a bold, vivid orange background, the painting uses strong complementary colour contrast to intensify the presence of the blue Mustang, pushing it forward with a sense of movement and power.

The simplified backdrop removes distraction and transforms the scene into something almost cinematic. It is a moment frozen in time where colour, shape, and nostalgia collide. The orange and blue work together not only as visual opposites but as emotional opposites: warmth against coolness, energy against control, the boldness of the background amplifying the quiet strength of the car.

This piece reflects my fascination with classic automotive design. The way light interacts with curved metal, the personality embedded in every angle and my interest in using colour to evoke atmosphere rather than realism. It is both a tribute to the Mustang’s enduring legacy and an exploration of how colour can transform a familiar object into a striking, modern composition.

I started out with a pencil in hand, drawing portraits and learning to capture emotion through subtle lines and shadows. Over time, I found myself wanting more depth, colour, and freedom and that led me to oil painting.

These days, I love working with oil because of how it lets me explore contrast, light, and mood in a way pencil never could. My subjects are always changing. I’m drawn to anything with character, whether it’s a person, an old car, an animal, or even a building.

For me, painting is about looking more closely and finding something interesting in the everyday and bringing it to life with colour and light.
