Artwork Description

Red1 captures the timeless allure of the classic Corvette through a powerful interplay of colour and form. The vivid red of the Stingray sits boldly against a deep olive-green background, a deliberate use of complementary colour contrast that heightens the car’s presence and emphasises its sculptural lines.

By pairing a rich, organic green with the sleek, vibrant red bodywork, the painting creates a visual tension. It creates a push and pull of warmth and earthiness, speed and stillness. The background is intentionally simplified, acting almost like a stage that allows the Stingray’s curves, reflections, and iconic silhouette to take centre focus.

This piece is both a celebration of mid-century automotive design and an exploration of colour harmony. The Corvette Stingray, with its unmistakable profile, becomes more than a machine, it becomes a character, a symbol of freedom and motion. Through strong, contrasting hues and clean composition, Red1 invites the viewer to appreciate the car not just as an object, but as a piece of art in its own right.

Artist Bio

I started out with a pencil in hand, drawing portraits and learning to capture emotion through subtle lines and shadows. Over time, I found myself wanting more depth, colour, and freedom and that led me to oil painting.

These days, I love working with oil because of how it lets me explore contrast, light, and mood in a way pencil never could. My subjects are always changing. I’m drawn to anything with character, whether it’s a person, an old car, an animal, or even a building.

For me, painting is about looking more closely and finding something interesting in the everyday and bringing it to life with colour and light.
