Artwork Description

We Move In Unknown Landscapes is painted with many layers of acrylic and oil on canvas, incorporating both abstract and figurative techniques. The subject matter itself reflects both my connection and bond to the natural world and my interest in the symbology of animals within art.

With its palette of neutral ochres, greys, soft ash pinks and whites set off by a brushy, soft deeper pink outlining the striking, powerful figure of the horse, this large painting is both restful and engaging to live with and will enhance many different styles of interiors and decor.

Multiple layers of mark making create texture—thin washes over rough brushstrokes, drips and thick strokes of oil paint--give this painting energy and life when combined with a subtle, masterful use of colour. The whites range from rougher chalky to zinc white, from buff to bone, set off by the thoughtful use of neutrals with small touches of darkest grey-blue.

This painting is unframed and wired, varnished and ready to hang. Framing is optional and not strictly necessary, as the sides of the canvas are painted. Signed on the front, it comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Artist Bio

Beverly is a painter based in Melbourne, Australia. Trained formally in fine art and later, digital media, she worked in design and illustration, with a segue into animation and video. She creates in a variety of media including painting, printmaking and drawing.

Her work is colourful, bold, provocative and engaging, reflecting a range of influences, from Symbolism, Expressionist art, graffiti and Pop Art to 70s cinema and modern poetry and lyrics. She involves the viewer in a narrative and mood, enabling the works to never lose their ability to engage with and enhance the life of the collector. Now painting full time, creating art is a love and a passion, enhanced by an interest in architecture, design and the cultural zeitgeist generally, fed by a curiosity about where/how painting fits into and connects with these fields.

With a classically trained background, she works in oils, acrylics and mixed media, using layers of glazes and vibrant, singing colours. Grounded in drawing and mark making, she chases those happy accidents found during the creative process to investigate new directions and bring a sense of texture, temporal fragility and spontaneity. Formal rules and an awareness of art history create structure–structure that can be experimented with, broken and remade.

Her subject matter is the human condition, spirituality and language. A love of animals and the natural and unseen/hidden world laces through it all. The ultimate aim is connection.
