Artist Bio

I’m Bisser Petkov, an Artist and Engineer based in Adelaide Australia.
I spend my days working as Support Engineer for small Australian company which is part of big International Corporation.

The time after work and weekends I use to put my ideas, impressions and dreams on canvas, paper or anything that can hold paint.

I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a child and my art works have been noted repeatedly.
After finishing the Professional High School majoring in Interior Design and served in the army I was admitted to the University of Ruse in Bulgaria. I completed a 5 years course graduating with Master’s Degree of Electrical Engineering.

Then a big shift in my life come as I migrated with my family to Australia in 1995. Here I found my new home and the opportunity to persuade my lifelong passion for art. My dream to receive an academic art education become reality when I was accepted in the University of South Australia. In 2001, I graduated from School of Fine Arts with formal degree of Bachelor of Visual Arts and Multimedia.

It was during this academic course I discovered the philosophy behind the figurative painting following it through the history back to its roots in prehistoric drawings in the caves.
I found the subject of depicting the human figure so fascinating, challenging and most difficult of all. I studied the old masters, their layering techniques, brushwork and use of mediums. It’s never-ending learning for me.

In the past twenty years my artworks were included in various exhibitions.
Many paintings were purchased from private clients. Some were given as a gift.

The biggest satisfaction for me is to know that someone wants to have my painting on their wall.
