Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
This work came about because of the number of drownings over the years because of the inability of swimmers to identify rips in the surf. As a past surf lifesaver I had spent many patrol hours observing the surf for these telltale signs. The painting itself is not of any particular beach as I did not want to give any place a bad name for rips, so it is a composite of several photos we have taken on our visits to various surfing beaches. This is partly Coolum, Curramundi and a bit of my favourite one Currumbin but have tried to make it look like any beach anywhere.
The point I hope that will come out of it is, that hopefully, others may be more likely to identify this particularly potential danger when in the surf.
It is done on unframed stretched canvas
It is ready to hang and has a plastic encased wire hanger with flat d ring hooks
