Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
I have always had an affinity for the sea . I love the surf and was a lifesaver for a number of years and this gave me a great respect for it. While I was not the greatest of surfers and thus kept to the less boisterous waters I never the less was drawn to watching huge seas especially during storms and would spend many hours spread over time, watching the waters surging, breaking and crashing onto the rocks, at various beaches such as Currumbin, Greenmount, Elliott Heads and Coolum in particular. At these times I was in awe of the power and at times terrifying angriness of the weather.
Again with no particular place in mind but with images of these storms stuck in my mind Igathered them together to come up with this work. By adding the clipper ship into the mix I felt it gave an understanding of the perils on the sea especially if there were no light houses to warn of the impending dangers ahead.
Done on unframed stretched canvas with wide edges painted black.
It is ready to hang and has plastic encased hanging wire with flat d ring hooks
