Artwork Description

"Sunday's Grace" showcases Brooke's fertile imagination and her inability to stop creating post surgery whilst confined to bed recently. Her husband ensured paints, water and brushes were easily accessible.
Brooke's only plan for this work was to put herself in a state of "mindfulness". She also committed to using as much colour as possible - because she found colours healing. Self administered colour therapy.
The resulting image depicts a future manifestation of what she plans to produce in the baron patch that is currently her garden (when she is physically able).
A place that when she's in good health, fills her soul, tending to the new shoots of the seeds she planted yesterday, while the birds chirp and the bees whir in harmony.
She has learned that successfully growing food is a sign that nature is positively responding to her love and attention. The food she grows nourishes her in return. It's a process that she feels helps her commune with the universe and it's cycles on her own terms. Away from society and completely devoid of ego.

Artist Bio

Brooke's a self taught artist and teacher based in beautiful East Gippsland, Victoria. Mother of three, lover of home, animals, beaches, nature and travel.
Her twenty year career has largely involved teaching and facilitating community arts projects using the medium of mosaics. She has also done several artist residencies in schools. In 2017 she began her journey with paint. Her process is experimental. She rarely plans her work, but rather finds letting the process unravel organically and curiously the best approach.
Over time she has developed her colourful abstract style that would become her signature. "Practicing art is all about "play". When I'm in the zone, I'm in a place of mindfulness-completely immersed in the moment. In this space I'm able to access my inner child and subconscious".
She uses her son's name on her social media pages. Bohdi Taylor Artist.
