Artwork Description

When I was four years old, my home town of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was hit by a massive blizzard. Walls of snow 6 meters high. I vaguely remember it. On this painting, a tonal landscape emerged harkening back to those childhood memories of icy winds, massive snowbanks, and slow drives in the cold semi-dark.

Brad Ashlock is a multidisciplinary artist who received his MFA from the University of Chicago in 2003. Since then, he has exhibited his work in galleries and online platforms across the United States, Australia, and internationally.

Ashlock's expressive work explores themes of emotion, memory, and the human condition through a variety of mediums, including painting, music, video, and fiction. His pieces often incorporate found objects and materials, imbuing them with new meaning and significance.

In addition to his studio practice, Ashlock is also a dedicated author, having written over ten novels, three of which have been Kindle best sellers. He has received numerous awards and grants for his work, and his art has been featured in several publications.

Ashlock's work is deeply personal and thought-provoking, inviting viewers to consider their own experiences and emotions in relation to the world around them.
