Unobserved Holidays

My wife and I collect "low brow" art prints. They're fun and irreverent for the home, with a hint of the subversive. I wanted to escape the seriousness of art for a bit, and delve into the realm of the low brow and the pop.

In this piece, there's a nostalgia for the past, but at the same time, a lack of perception - the Bigfoot creature is standing right with the couple, but seems unobserved. Some heavy-handed symbolism, but I think it's done in a fun way.

Brad Ashlock is a multidisciplinary artist who received his MFA from the University of Chicago in 2003. Since then, he has exhibited his work in galleries and online platforms across the United States, Australia, and internationally.
