Brad Williams is a full-time artist originally from Wellington New Zealand, now based in Queensland.
Starting at a young age Brad was always passionate about art, in particularly painting.
A self-taught artist, who after dropping out of design school began painting large abstract portraits under the alias Slope.
Brad got his first paid painting work through the hospitality scene in Wellington, painting murals, signs and banners for many bars, restaurants and clubs. It was around this time a distinct style and direction emerged in his work. A style he likes to call Human Topography. "I use overlapping layers of colour and tight contouring lines with an emphasis on sharp edges to create a sort of topographical relief map of the human face." This is an idea he is still exploring and refining.
Brad had his first solo exhibition in 2003 and since then he has worked with many galleries and exhibited extensively throughout New Zealand.
Brads paintings are bold and engaging. Often mistaken for digital art, each piece is highly detailed and painstakingly executed over many hours, days and even weeks.
Brad's distinctive style and attention to detail has caught the eye of many collectors from around the world.
