Artwork Description

A vibrant celebration of warm colour. This abstract fine art image was created by double exposing macro photographs of an Impatiens flower. Featuring layers of rich fuchsia, reds, apricots, and off whites. Beautiful details of the flower petal's texture come through, in an over lapping, colour popping, tapestry.

Perfect for collectors drawn to floral abstraction, botanical photography, or nature-inspired art with a difference.

Impatiens No 1 was captured in camera (not created in Photoshop). This hands on technique allows me to compose the image at the moment of capture, embracing the unpredictability and authenticity of the process.

Printed on luxurious 300 GSM cotton rag archival paper, the artwork offers exceptional depth, texture, and longevity. The printed area measures 41.9cm x 29.7cm and includes an additional 5 mm in white border to assist with framing, making the total size measure 42.9cm x 30.7cm.
I produced this fine art photograph to suit commonly sold frames however I am always happy to provide quotation for other sizes. Feel free to ask.

Artist Bio

Hello, I am Bree Day, an Australian photographer and Mum who is super passionate about healing through art, spending time in nature, my community, mental health, plants and flowers, coffee and raising my beautiful children.

I live in a tiny outback town, in Central Queensland.

For over a decade, I worked as a professional portrait and event photographer, capturing life’s fleeting, heartfelt moments through a documentary lens. But it was a personal journey—one shaped by emotional upheaval and a focus on healing—that drew me inward, and closer to nature.

During this time, I began studying the plants and flowers in my garden through my macro lens. Spending time with the plants and insects was grounding, it was my meditation, and it lit a deep curiosity in me. I began to see beauty in a tiny little ecosystem that existed in my own backyard that I had never paid attention to before. The patterns in the bark, the veins in the leaves, the cycle of life from sprout, to blooming flower, to returning seed to the soil, the co-dependency of insects and plants…. This little world had me hooked.

That practice of observing soon blossomed into a deep creative exploration which took over like a very welcome, invasive weed. No longer satisfied with traditional imagery, I began experimenting—freezing, dissecting, double exposing and even setting botanical subjects alight.

My work is now firmly rooted in a fine art photography. All my images are created in-camera, not photoshop. I compose on the spot. I layer one photograph over another in my camera to produce dreamlike, whimsical, abstract compositions in natural light.

In 2024, I held my debut solo exhibition Botanical Tonic, a celebration of nature’s power to both soothe and stir the soul. Each piece is a personal offering—born of curiosity, transformed through experimentation, and crafted to evoke emotion.

The pieces listed have already been printed and are ready to be shipped. I am happy to provide other sizes, please allow a little extra time for orders and printing when requesting this.
