Hi there, Iโm an urban-pop artist and have been around art most of my life.
Iโm best known for my irreverent screen printed pop art, often fused with a street art style.
I live in a beachside bungalow south of Perth, with my lovely partner, our teenage son and a moody cat.
Iโm often found in the back shed shaking spray cans and splashing paint around โ this is my happy space โ my mad art lab! Surrounded by dozens of spray cans, boxes of paints and brushes, stencils, and a pile of old posters torn from city walls, used for my collage work.
I was influenced by the original pop artists of the 60โs+70โs along with psychedelic album covers (eg - Beatles, Cream and Hendrix) and Japanese pop artist Tadanoori Yakoo. Then later my passion for street art and raw graphics evolved from the Punk and New Wave movement, along with the DIY ethic, often reflected in The Face and i-D magazines of the times.
It's a joy to sell art you have created, but equally the real joy is people connecting with your art enough to want to hang it in their house. That's a privilege and the connection with people is the real reward, the cherry on the top. I feel fortunate to be able to create and sell works and am grateful to all supporters along the way.
โMy art often deals with consumerism and the suburban dream. In my works I explore both the brightness and darkness of that dream with a combo of pop colour, street edginess, social commentary and satire. I also explore the cult of celebrity, idols, icons and the illusion of the beauty model in fashion advertising. I enjoy making new, edgy 'street queens' or my 'uptown girls' as I like to call them, crowned with random objects and symbols, but still a thing of abstract beauty..โ
But enough of my arty banter, here comes the obligatory Bio part -
