Hi, my name is Brett. I was born in the USA however have lived almost all my life in Australia. One of six kids, I grew up in a busy household and in a time where learning difficulties weren't recognised. It made for a challenging school experience however what I couldn't do in the classroom, I made up for on the sports field. Diagnosed in my late teens with dyslexia, I was determined to be successful and not let my struggles with traditional learning define me. I played professional tennis in the US and turned my hand to coaching. Following my return to Australia, I ran my dad's paint manufacturing business and worked in the paint industry for many years. This is when my passion for painting started. I was later dragged into the corporate world which I decided wasn't for me.
20 years ago I started a furniture business, making custom made indoor and outdoor sofas. Offering my expertise in style and colours to my customers lit the passion within me to go back to my roots of painting. My previous pieces were sold through my furniture showroom, however this was closed during COVID and I manufacture direct now. This has allowed me more time to communicate to the world through my art. To express how I am feeling through my mixing of colours and my abstract methods. Each piece has it's own character and mood. My greatest joy, aside from my grandson, is seeing one of my paintings 'speak' to someone.
I have not sold my art online before and I'm looking forward to the bluethumb platform providing exposure to my pieces to people who are appreciative of abstract art. I paint large canvases only.
