Artwork Description

• Sometimes a sky is so big it leaves you in awe, like this one rising over a homestead and fields of brown stubble on the road back from Killarney towards Warwick in Queensland's Southern Downs. It's one of those skies where the mind can't help but see fantastical creatures in the random forms.
• This one is painted entirely with a palette knife, apart from some torn cardboard for the foreground twigs and a rag used for burnishing some borrowed colour into the farthest clouds.
• It continues around the edges and is varnished and ready to hang, so framing is optional.
• About the surface and panel: Works on panel are more durable and long lasting than those on canvas. I handcrafted the braced panel from Australian hardwood and marine-grade plywood, and sealed it on all surfaces. I mounted Italian Fabriano 100% cotton 300gsm watercolour paper with acrylic gel to provide a textured, archival surface protected from the wood.

Artist Bio

• Our world’s shapes, colours and textures have a deep personal resonance and I aim to share that sense of wonder. I’ll always keep experimenting, learning, and making sense of the world through my personal art, and I’m excited to showcase and offer some of the pieces here in the hope you’ll enjoy them too.

• I work predominantly in acrylic and sympathetic water media. My acrylic works on watercolour paper mounted to my own handcrafted braced panels do not need to be mounted under glass, and can be cared for like any other varnished acrylic painting. All my works are completed with artist quality archival materials and media, and crafted with care and attention to longevity.

• If you are interested in a piece and have further questions, or are just curious about how I created it, feel free to drop me a question here in Bluethumb. Be sure to check out all my paintings, even the sold ones that I’m also very proud of, by clicking on the links above.
