Born in Portland Victoria‚ Brett Jarrett (59) is one of the top four artists in Australia that specialises in birds. He has spent 32 years understanding both birds and art on a world class level, a combination that very few artists in Australia have achieved.
His work has been collected internationally for many years and has been the most successful artists to exhibit at the Holmes Art Prize for realism in Australian bird art with 2 x Best in Show; 2 x People's Choice Award and 1 x Award for Excellence.
His work has been accepted four times by the United States prestigious Society of Animal Artists annual exhibition and national tour; the Birds in Art exhibition,
national tour with work being acquired by the Leigh Yawkey-Woodson Art Museum (Wisconsin, U.S.A.).
He has worked as an artist‚ guide and field biologist in the polar regions for many years‚ becoming the most travelled and experienced of Australia’s modern day animal painters.
Brett's work is not commercial. It is not mass produced nor deliberately staged with meaningless detail; gaudy, confusing colour mixes. His paintings are expertly crafted with knowledge and a very high level of skill.
