Romantica

This work will be on display at the Bluethumb Gallery in Richmond, Melbourne for the 2023 Bluethumb Art Prize Finalists Exhibition from October 11th to November 27th. Delivery of this work will take place following the 2023 Bluethumb Art Prize Awards Night on October 26th.

Romantica is a deep, ethereal and cloudy depiction with textured layers.
While creating this piece I wanted it to feel like you could step through the portal of the canvas frame and mentally enter a new dreamy universe of romance and unconditional love. Through this creation, I was contemplating a love that never quite came to fruition as I fantasised, yet it was still a beautiful experience.

Overall my painting practice gives my life a sense of happiness and connection.
I mostly create pieces that explore my emotions and reflect internal contemplations that grow through my lived experiences.
I also aim to mindfully connect my mark making on the canvas with my bodies movements while in the process of painting.
Sometimes the experience of creating itself inspires my practice.
In this case I'm drawn to painting just for the joy and to be curious about what arrives on the canvas.
