Mermaid Cove by Brigitte Ackland.  The coast of Western Australia, where the artist lives, provides much inspiration for her work; the beauty and mercurial nature of the Indian Ocean and the lighting bouncing off it; the abstract patterns and shapes created by its ebb and flow and crashing waves. Her favourite medium to capture this endless motion is liquid acrylic, which beautifully mimics the movement frozen in time.  The addition of gold metallic paint to the mix creates a stunning sheen when light bounces off it, much like the mirroring effect of sun on water. Depending on the angle, hues of blue and green, bronze and gold change as they reflect the light. The swirling design in this painting reminded her of a mermaid's tail, swiftly disappearing into the frothing water as she dove to evade detection! This stunning painting would be perfect in a coastal setting or those dreaming of the sea.

This piece has been created on stretched canvas over a handcut wooden frame.

Finished off with two coats of satin varnish to seal and protect the artwork.  There are D-rings and wire on the back, making it ready to hang and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed and dated by the artist.
