Artwork Description

This striking portrait of a sacred kingfisher is a textured gem! The bold colours marry beautifully with touchable paint texture. The finish of a canvas but on paper. It will be set off well with a simple black frame. Small at A4 but packing plenty of character punch.

Artist Bio

I am a contemporary Australian artist based in North-Central Victoria, and my work celebrates the natural environment of my local region. Inspired by native birdlife, flora, wildlife and landscapes, I create original artworks that balance careful observation with expressive mark-making. Working primarily with pen, watercolour and occasionally acrylic, my practice explores texture, form and colour to evoke a strong sense of place and connection to the natural world.

Immersed in the bushland and regional landscapes of Dja Dja Wurrung Country, I draw inspiration from close observation and ongoing engagement with my surroundings. My works often begin with field observation and reference imagery, developing into detailed illustrations and vibrant paintings that reflect both the delicacy and resilience of Australian ecosystems. Familiar species and environments are rendered with clarity and warmth, inviting viewers to pause and reconnect with the everyday beauty of nature.

I seek to foster appreciation for Australia’s natural environment, creating works that are accessible, contemplative and grounded in place.

I am available for commissioned pet portraits in my pen and watercolour illustration style. Feel free to ask about additional photographs or details about an artwork.
