Artwork Description

At Sunset, We Sail is part 4 of 4 of my abstract series "A Boat Time".
Sailing boat on the horizon of an uncertain sunset. Will it turn to storms with the dark clouds looming at the edges ominously? What seems fairly still on the surface of the water, is not always what is going on underneath - but will it affect the surface water? Will you put your head in the sand like the emu at the bottom left of the painting, or are you doing that to look below and within? What story does it tell you?

Designed to uplift a room with bright, bold colours and create a talking point with the story that you see within the painting.

Artist Bio

I was that kid who drew on everything, and unfortunately, I really mean just about everything. However, being the shy kid I was, most of my work was on hidden surfaces or at least not on the most obvious of places. At the time, my artworks could be found on the concealed side of a chest of drawers, random pages of novels, underneath tables, external house walls on the least walked side of the house, and much more. Majority of my creations were found by accident or long after I drew them. Maybe there was a small part of me that wanted my work to be secret and preserved for the future, when I would finally be content with the idea that being an artist is an innate passion of mine that is worth pursuing. I am now grown and see that it could have been viewed as vandalising, but it was never with malice intent I assure you. I now choose more appropriate and suitable surfaces for my creations. Nonetheless, I essentially have been creating art my whole life, whether I wanted to admit it or not, it pours from my soul.

I am a self-taught, Queensland based artist who focuses particularly on painting with acrylics. I enjoy working with acrylics due to their fast-drying nature, as they allow me to continue my artistic “flow” with the least amount of disruptions. They are also just fun to play with, mix, and allow me to discover what is hidden within my subconscious.
My main subject matter and inspiration in my acrylic art are abstract landscapes/seascapes. I enjoy bright, playful colours and weaving in stories as well as a sense of motion to my art. After spending many years in the field of health for work, I no longer wish to have such rigid and regimented boundaries on myself. I fell even more in love with art from this journey because of the ability to freely self-express and find happiness in doing so.

I love the thought of my drawings bringing whimsy, playfulness and inspiration for storytelling to the lives of others. I create with the intent of evoking emotion and feeling. Each piece, has a unique story gushing from the artwork, waiting to be told. I would love for my art to speak for itself and be known for how it makes others feel. I want my art to enrich the lives of others, and of course, to sell like hot cakes (because what person out there doesn’t wish for some success in life). So thank you for taking the time to read, to explore, to seek something different. I hope to make your day brighter with my art.
