Artwork Description

This is one of the pieces in the Vessel series, and one of three that have a similar colour palette. Inspiration for the colour palette comes from the bright colours that were popular in the 1980s. They were in the artworks of artists like Ken Done, and also in the clothing of the time. The colours bring back happy memories of my twenties.

As a child I loved (and indulged in) all sorts of arts and crafts, but I never had any idea about painting.

I first picked up a paintbrush in January 2014, with no clue what to do with it. Since then, I've experimented with many different paint types and brands; ways of applying paint; resin; and different types of supports (painting surfaces).

Because I like variety and I like to keep things fresh, I don't have a particular style or favourite way of producing a painting. I work with how my mood takes me on the day and I'm often surprised at the result.
