Artwork Description

'Hook Passage' is a Limited Edition Print. There are only 200 prints available.

This print was captured in 2015.

Hook Island on the left and Whitsunday Island on the right, this passage passes 100's of 1000's of boats every year. The old Hook Island Resort can be seen too.

This image was captured in a helicopter, which is always Brooke's preference! It was taken with Canon pro gear.

Artist Bio

Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday Islands are like nowhere else on earth. How does one begin to capture the beauty of the inlets, reefs, bays and creatures that call these pristine waters home?

By venturing Above and Below.

When photographer Brooke Miles isn’t scuba diving to capture the shimmering light of the deep, she’s photographing the coastline’s rich colours and textures from high above. These contrasting perspectives unite in perfect harmony at Above and Below, Brooke’s photographic gallery located in Airlie Beach, Queensland.

Brooke finds endless inspiration in the ever-evolving waterways of the Whitsunday Coast.

“I have always had a love for landscape photography. Selling a few prints from my Kimberley travels to a gallery in Perth in my early twenties was, and still is, a high point of my career. Through my successes as a wedding and commercial photographer, to opening my own Airlie Beach gallery in November 2017 – I still reflect back to that first print that I sold. I couldn't even tell you how much I sold it for. It would not have been much!

My passion for capturing the ocean from under the surface and above from the sky has grown over the past eight years since living in Airlie Beach. My 'backyard' is absolutely stunning; it's colourful and vibrant and full of wonder. This makes every photo shoot an exhilarating experience and one that I feel truly blessed to be able to capture through my lens."
