Brooke van Ruiswyk (BFAhons and BTeach) is a landscape artist currently living and working in Launceston, Tasmania. Her moody seascapes are often inspired by the quaint seaside village where she grew up.
“Stanley holds a special place in my heart and features heavily in my work. Many of my paintings are from my memories of the North-West coast and capture the mood of a windy day; you can almost hear the water stirring and the clouds blowing across the sky”
Being a passionate Visual Arts educator has prompted Brooke to become a multidisciplinary artist, expressing her ideas through oils, watercolour and linocuts.
“For many years oil paint has been my staple medium, as I adore its buttery quality; the way it moves and blends across the canvas. However, I have a drive to experiment with all media and this inspires me to create my work in a variety of ways”
Brooke has been a selected finalist in numerous art prizes since 2008, and was announced winner of the Zonta International Award for Young Emerging Artist in 2010.
