I am an artist living in Melbourne. Since retiring I have concentrated on my art practice and am showing my works in the online marketplace.
I completed formal studies in printmaking and photography over the years and have integrated concepts and processes from my studies in my current approach. I use physical media and software programs on the iPad as printmaking tools, working on the same image in different programs to produce a finished work, completed as a Giclée print, a Fine Art inkjet process using archival inks on archival rag paper.
I am drawn to abstraction, using the interplay of form and line, light and shadow, to suggest meaning. My preference has been for a muted palette, monochrome or a muted harmony of line and colour.
I am influenced by music, not specific pieces, but the idea of music; an abstract communication conveying emotion and meaning through being itself. The body informs some of my work, being embodied, other bodies and experiences, movement within the body, the body’s movement in the environment. Both the natural and constructed world inspire form and line. The artwork may be geometric or organic, usually a combination of both; texture, colour, object and line suggested and transformed by intuitive process, working with balancing or integrating a need for meaning and a need for mark and colour making for its own sake.
