Artwork Description

This bold marine watercolour painting of this Eden harbour Fire Tug displays prominence, strength and detail. During the bad bushfires that threatened Eden & surrounds there was a suggestion to have all the townsfolk assemble at the harbour & this boat, with a sister tug were going to keep the fire away from the population, it was that bad, This is one of the craft proposed to be used.
Bruce Griffiths Watercolours; this was sketch painted onsite then reproduced in the studio for best affects. We only sell ORIGINAL artwork.
All my work uses a mix of Winsor Newton/Daniel Smith pigments & 300gsm Arches Rough watercolour paper.
This work offered as UNFRAMED for ease of transport.

Artist Bio

Brief background - Many years in the Qld construction scene & my spare time spent outdoors. I picked up a brush in 2002. Largely self-taught & indebted professional learning workshops with renowned Australian based artists Robert Wade, Robert Lovett, Greg Allen, David Taylor, Alvaro Castagnet, Herman Pekel & Joseph Zbukvic leading me to a more professional direction of what I am now. A very rich heritage. How the wheel turns & now I provide advanced workshops, giving back in art.
I was a late bloomer and now there is never enough time to paint. “I keep a cracking pace really so I can keep up with the many paintings in my mind at any one time”.
Where I started, where I am now & where I will be in 5 or 10 years time have been & will be beyond my current hopes & dreams.
Nestled in Kleinton for travel to all points of the compass & a perfect hub for my art studio. I am also involved in workshops & teaching. “Teaching makes me a better artist. Passing on the baton makes me note exactly what it is that I am doing in my own creating. Live knowledge transforms into learned knowledge and in turn practised knowledge.
A full-time practising artist based in Kleinton is always looking for new frontiers. I have learnt from some of the best in the world in watercolour and it takes a while to appreciate what is important. I reject paintings that do not meet my increasingly high standards of pursuit. If you continue to work like that, art will find you.
I teach four terms a year at Toowoomba Art Society & complete a route of regional workshops in SE & SW Qld each year. Currently arts course through CQU Certificate 3 Visual Arts.
A prize-winning artist, teacher, blue card holder, exhibitor & increasingly sought after for commissions, workshops & as demonstrator of watercolour fine art.
