Artwork Description

Artist Staff Picked and Featured in Bluethumb Collections.

'Dancing Lights' by Bruce Peebles is a vibrant abstract painting inspired by the emotional impact of bright red and green lights—like fireworks or city flashes at night. Circles, expressive strokes, and shimmering textures move across the canvas, capturing the feeling of lights glittering in the dark.

The artwork is full of energy and rhythm, with layered colors and playful dots that create a sense of movement and celebration. Rather than telling a specific story, 'Dancing Lights' invites viewers to connect with the emotion and memory that light can spark. It’s a joyful, expressive piece that reflects the way fleeting moments of beauty—like light in the night sky—can leave a lasting impression.

Artist Bio

Bruce Peebles – Contemporary Australian Artist

Bruce Peebles is a Brisbane-based contemporary artist whose practice is driven by colour, light, movement and a fascination with the Australian landscape. Largely self-taught, with formal fine art training, Bruce brings an experimental and intuitive approach to painting, creating expressive works that balance abstraction with recognisable forms and natural inspiration.

Working primarily with acrylics, oils, inks and layered glazes, he explores texture, rhythm and the interplay of light and colour. His paintings draw inspiration from the ever-changing colours of the Australian desert, the energy of the ocean and the movement of water, translating these experiences into vibrant, atmospheric compositions.

His signature collections, including Sun Glitter, Rhythmic Motion and Primordial Landscapes, explore different expressions of nature, from luminous reflections dancing across water to the expansive forms and colours of the Australian outback.

Four decades of experience in professional advertising photography, for which he was awarded Master Photographer by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography, have given Bruce a distinctive appreciation of light, composition and visual impact. Today, painting is his primary creative focus, with works represented in corporate and private collections internationally.

Bruce's intention is to create paintings that evoke a feeling as much as a place, bringing colour, energy and a sense of freedom into the spaces they inhabit.
