"Burra State Heritage Area, established in 1993, encapsulates the rich history of the 'Monster Mine.' Copper's discovery in 1845 led to remarkable economic transformation, making South Australia a leading colony. The mine employed over a thousand workers, primarily Cornish. Despite its decline after 1860, the area's legacy endured. This heritage site serves as a reminder of the profound impact of mining on the landscape and the resilience of those who shaped it."
