"Nullarbor Nocturne" by Bruce Peebles unveils a captivating glimpse into a mystical realm on the wooded section of the Nullarbor Plains. Named 'Nullarbor,' meaning 'no trees,' despite the abundance of vegetation such as saltbush and bluebush scrub, this region was once an old seabed thrust upwards. Part of the flat, almost treeless, arid or semi-arid country of southern Australia, it lies on the Great Australian Bight coast, with the Great Victoria Desert to its north.

Peebles immersed himself in this remote locale, camping under the vast night sky, where he embarked on a creative journey of light-painting the trees with his torch during long exposures. The result is a surreal masterpiece bathed in hues of purples and greens, set against a brooding, darkened sky. The exposed tree trunks, with their intricate and twisted patterns, stand as proud sentinels, commanding attention. Particularly striking is the meticulously positioned central tree, a focal point amidst the ethereal landscape.
