Bryan Shephard (or Sheppo to his friends) is a sculptor and 2D artist who breaks down barriers to artwork, making it accessible to the common man. He is currently managed by a Brisbane based art gallery.
Growing up in Townsville, Regional Queensland, Bryan has always led an outdoor life of sports, fishing and camping. His latest body of work, 'Top of the Ocean', is inspired by the current issue of plastic waste and explores the predatory nature of plastic in our oceans.
It explores how the top predator in our oceans and waterways is not a marlin, whale or pelagic fish but rather plastic waste. It feeds on habitats and slowly kills many marine creatures and fish. It floats in currents, covering plants and marine inter-tidal areas. It clogs waterways and beaches, and creates its own city-scapes. Plastic waste is its own mini environment, a place, like a school of bait, or a floating weed.
