Artwork Description

I love lighthouses and have visited most Australian lighthouses. Of course, they look fantastic at night. Especially, those that have original historic fresnel lenses. Smokey Cape Lighthouse on the mid north coast of NSW is one of these. Its 12 beams of light look most spectacular. So of course, I had to paint them.

Artist Bio

Bruce is a Brisbane based artist, who has painted since he was a teenager. Over the years he has embraced watercolour, oils and acrylics although these days uses mainly acrylic . Australian landscape, flora and fauna, seascapes, and lighthouses have always been favourite subjects of his. He loves to go camping and hiking, searching out new locations and taking time to explore these and enjoy the visual and other delights.
Since about 2018, he has particularly relished bringing these experiences to life through paint. Bruce enjoys painting some of the fine details but is most interested in conveying the whole and the impact of light, so sharing something of his own experience of the landscape. He uses a selection of light and expansive, sometimes bold brush strokes inviting you into his experience.
