Artwork Description

Influenced by Mark Rothko’s large scale works and inspired by Adelaide's breathtaking coastal scenes. In this series Caitlin explores colour theory and layering techniques to create bold shimmering planes of colour that are perceived via optical blending. The layers of colour create a depth that draws the viewer into the deeper layers of the tranquil yet sublime scene that falls upon us for just a moment at the last light of the day - which now can be enjoyed endlessly.

Artist Bio

Caitlin is an Adelaide based artist, currently studying Fine Art at Adelaide Central School of Art (ACSA). Caitlin's eclectic yet poetic range of original artworks explore colour theory, tone, line and form to express themes of the human condition relating to questions of uncertainty surrounding articulation of consciousness, connection and what it is to exist in the world today.
