Artwork Description

Drawing on paper

Signed on the front.

Les Chevaux, meaning 'The Horses'

Captured on a white winter's day in Paris France.

These horses and their riders trot from the Tuileries, through the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, toward the Louvre. A glimpse of the famous Louvre Pyramid seen peeking over the shoulder of the second rider.

The backsides of these horses assemble at the back side of the arch, the arch which holds aloft the backsides of Napoleon's chariot horses. That's a lot of backsides!

This triumphal procession of derrières is composed using a harmonious earthy colour palette and a sprinkling of regal navy.

I'll leave it there, as Napoleon said, "A good sketch is better than a long speech!"
