Hello, I'm Carissa, founder of Risso Creative.
I’m an expressionist artist living in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Queensland, Australia. I am an artist resident at The Joy Collective in Maleny.
You can find me on Coral Street, where I paint mostly abstract, create digital art, and explore mixed media and textiles.
My practice involves tuning in to how I feel on the day and how I want to express myself. I do this by sharing my love for diverse colour palettes, layering textures through collage, and movement through expressive contour lines.
My work mostly consists of a free-flowing and fluid nature. I continually create and experiment with new materials, tools, and methods (Check out my Instagram or my Facebook Community for process work).
I’ve always been a creative soul. From art classes in my youth to studying Graphic Design at the University of the Sunshine Coast. It’s through my mental health wellbeing journey that I’ve really honored my creative practice. My creativity plays an important part in keeping me grounded and my health at its best. It’s my safe haven. It gives me a routine where I can consistently show up, achieve, explore and grow.
My values are; creativity, innovation, continuous learning, embracing one's individual style, and fostering and nurturing creative relationships. I show up in my creative practice with joy, passion, and love. This is the place where I let go of judgment and focus mindfully on growth, and development and see where my creative practice leads me.
I’m on a journey to build a creative consultancy with the purpose of inspiring, guiding, and empowering others to participate in creativity and nurture their wellbeing.
