Artwork Description

This still life photograph explores the delicate balance between fragility and presence. A red flower rests inside a glass vessel, accompanied by small fruits and organic elements, carefully arranged and illuminated by warm, directional light.

Influenced by classical still life painting and contemporary photography, the work reflects on themes of impermanence, care and quiet attention. Light plays a central role, holding the objects together and transforming an intimate arrangement into a contemplative moment.

The image invites the viewer to slow down and observe how beauty emerges through simplicity, restraint and subtle tension.

Her practice explores memory, identity, and migration through layered photographic work, blending contemporary and archival images to create emotionally resonant narratives. Carmen’s work bridges personal and collective perspectives, fostering dialogue, empathy, and reflection. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, including solo and group exhibitions in Adelaide, Paris, Sydney, and Spain.
