Artwork Description

This Bay of Rottnest offers so many options for painting. This piece focuses on the boldness of the sandy cliff to the sandy shore and shrubs complimenting the rhythms of the turquoise water and sea weed passages. I am positioned over the other side, on a high precipice, where i paint this en plein air. The boats are loose and add to the appeal of the composition.

Artist Bio

My art journey began during childhood under the guidance of my mother, also an artist. A career of classroom teaching and art education paved the way for a new direction in 2000. I have since been working full time on developing, exhibiting and marketing my style of work. At present, my art practice embraces spontaneity, boldness, subtlety, change, growth. I emphasize colour as my main ingredient in any composition, using it to evoke an emotional response. I realise and appreciate that over the years, my work is becoming more abstracted from reality and am happily allowing the process to continue to evolve. I paint in a loose impressionistic style which depicts real- life situations and scenes, displaying versatility in the use of a variety of mediums and technique or style such as oil, acrylic, gouache and pastel.
