Artwork Description

I wanted to create the feeling of being in the water and close to the wave. I also tried something different in painting the wave using soft pastels on canvas. The subtle textures give transparency to the wave. I then sprayed the pastel to seal it. As another protective measure, I have worked back into some areas with acrylic paint. The canvas is framed in a contemporary brush white shadow box frame.(84cm x 84cm)

Artist Bio

My art journey began during childhood under the guidance of my mother, also an artist. A career of classroom teaching and art education paved the way for a new direction in 2000. I have since been working full time on developing, exhibiting and marketing my style of work. At present, my art practice embraces spontaneity, boldness, subtlety, change, growth. I emphasize colour as my main ingredient in any composition, using it to evoke an emotional response. I realise and appreciate that over the years, my work is becoming more abstracted from reality and am happily allowing the process to continue to evolve. I paint in a loose impressionistic style which depicts real- life situations and scenes, displaying versatility in the use of a variety of mediums and technique or style such as oil, acrylic, gouache and pastel.
