Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. I’m Carol Maddern and I’m a self taught artist . I first picked up a paint brush a few years ago and I’ve been painting prolifically since.
I mainly use acrylic and sometimes ink, sometimes mixing the two in one piece.
I had been wanting to paint for a long time and after seeing visions of paintings and colour ,I knew this is what I should be doing. One day I was walking past the local art shop and I stopped and hesitated and thought, ‘will l, won’t l’ ... I decided I would . In I went ,not knowing where to start and a knowledgeable assistant helped me with my first supplies and I haven’t looked back since that day.
My lifelong work has been in horticulture . It’s plants and nature that truly inspires my work. It’s my passion , gardens and flowers, texture and colour . Its my inspiration. Sometimes my work will be portrayed in the abstract form and sometimes it’s representative of a subject and quite often it’s intuitive.
I was honoured to be chosen as one of the exhibitors by Raw Australia in the 2018 Envisions show. This was a fantastic experience and an invaluable learning curve for me . Getting work ready for exhibitions and the organization it takes to exhibit ones’ work. I was blown away by the positive response and sales .
This art life is a part of me as is my need to create beautiful art. I love art, collecting art and supporting other artists.
There’s nothing more fulfilling and satisfying to be able to create a piece of art that somebody loves enough to want to put in their home. It makes me humble and so very grateful.
