Virtually self-taught, I have drawn all my life but got into painting in the last 30 years. I am a qualified Signwriter Ticketwriter and Interior Decorator. I have done many workshops with well-known Australian artists, but that is the extent of my art schooling.
I have been teaching Art in a studio attached to my house for the past 22 years. I paint and teach in Acrylics, Pastels and Genesis Oils. I have sold many paintings in private collections in America, England, New Zealand, Hong Kong and throughout Australia, and have won several Awards in exhibitions throughout NSW. In 2009 I was a finalist in The Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize in South Australia.
Although I can paint anything, I prefer realism in my paintings. I have a passion for painting Animals , both wild and pets, and Portraits and have done many commissioned works throughout Australia. I especially admire the great Impressionists works, their strokes and softness in edges, that lead you to believe in the picture, and to know what you are looking at is real, but that it is a painting and not a photo. I aim to strive more towards this style in future.
I still attend workshops whenever I can as I believe that you never stop learning, and I pass these onto my students, some who now are exhibiting also. I hope to pass on the passion I feel and can maybe aspire someone else to follow their dream.
