Artwork Description

After spending an afternoon in the garden I decided to pick some of the beautiful blue and white geraniums which live together in a terracotta pot. As dinner was coming I laid them on the table and was instantly transfixed between the ceramic and the flowers. The concept for the painting was instantly born.

Artist Bio

Carol has painted since childhood, and has sold both nationally and internationally. "I am fascinated with the complexity of painting, even in it's most simple expression". Inspired by Turner and the Impressionists. Carol continues through her art to explore through landscape, figure and dreams. Carol has had sell out exhibitions from her Private Gallery. The mother of two beautiful children, and co-director of the Gold Coast Gestalt Centre, she states she is incapable of not painting.

"Painting is, my meditation. I go where it takes me. It is like a universe to explore, in the safety of my home. Sometimes my brushes fly, sometimes a palette knife is everything, sometimes the painting is slow and methodical....it is for this reason, my paintings are broad in subject and style."

Her teachers include Australian Artist, John Wilson. Also, David Leffell and Sherrie McGraw, both U.S Master Artists and teachers renowned for their work, have recently acknowledged Carol as their Featured Artist. A rare and privileged acknowledgment.

Carol also animated the multi-award winning, Academy long listed Short film, which screened in over 52 countries and at stand-out film festivals, including Tribecca, Rain Dance, Flickerfest, St Kilda, Manhattan Short. Titled Je Suis Un Crayon, it required 24 drawings per second and at completion went for 5mins and 40 seconds. https://youtu.be/G8YfgtvEwHM and was invited over four consecutive years with Joe D’Arcy to attend Brisbane GOMA for Q&A to describe the process of making Je Suis Un Crayon and art practice.
