Safe landing

I was having a coffee with my partner when some pelicans begun to land. I was lucky enough to be able to snap this scene. You can see the streak of water on the left where another one has just landed. I really enjoyed painting the water in this one.

I am a self taught artist but was raised in an artistic family. My step father’s mother was Hilda Rix Nicholas who is held in high regard in the art world. I was fortunate to be surrounded by her art work as a child.
I didn’t Seriously start painting until I was approximately 50 years old, proir to that I worked as a nurse and raised a family. I predominately paint in pastel with some Acrylic. I am very passionate about the environment and animals which is often reflected in my art. I also have used my art to express some of my political views. Currently I love painting water and reflections and capturing the wonderful light.
