Original Artwork's Description

A touch of whimsy in this small alcohol ink piece. One in a series of semi-abstract original artworks. Such joy for me using an intuitive approach with alcohol inks, and loving the way different inks (and hues) combine to eventually form a unique composition. The intensity of the ink evokes a particular emotion in the individual art work. The piercing eyes, the lace, the glove, the abundance of flowers suggest a colourful and passionate character - the Lady and her Hat.

Artist Bio

Caroline Sharp
Caroline is an impressionist and abstract visual artist specialising in oil paintings. She developed a love of nature from her upbringing, visiting Sydney's national parks and beaches. She fondly remembers visiting Bowral with her family and exploring the beauty of the flowers. Later years living in Alice Springs led to a deeper appreciation of the diverse and beautiful Australian landscape. Since 2004 Caroline has been based in Kingsthorpe just west of Toowoomba QLD.

Warmth and connection in her paintings reflect her love of family and relationships. Caroline is passionate about expressing emotions through the visual mode, and capturing life in the moment. The figures in her artwork are a fascinating mixture of beauty, solace, intrigue and mystery. For Caroline art is a continuing journey, one which is exciting and challenging, ever changing and growing. Dipping into the Alcohol Ink medium has been an enjoyable recent development.

Over the years Caroline has participated and won awards in various exhibitions in the Toowoomba Region. She participates regularly in the annual Downlands College Art Exhibition, and in the Toowoomba Art Society Annual Members Spring Exhibition, held during the annual Carnival of Flowers. Caroline's work is also available at Murray's Art and Framing, Ruthven St Toowoomba, and Rosalie House, Lilyvale QLD (near Toowoomba).
